Hey. Remember The Polar Vortex? You will when you watch these embedded videos I made with Rachel Bianchi, who was pretty much the only truly ardent supporter of the video interview throughout this entire process. At the onset, I had thought I’d be doing videos exclusively for this project, but soon came to realize that too many people I was looking to interview were a little camera-shy, so I happily scrapped the idea (cuz I guess I kind of am too)… except for Rachel, who emailed me with the following type of demands:
What time will the hair and makeup people arriving? I can bring my own fan for effect, but I won’t share a trailer. In my trailer (which needs to be on the left side of the road – facing east), I would like 22 yellow peanut m&m’s and a fresh crystal pepsi.
That’s a real email by the way… haha
Now how am I supposed to say no to that? So, I didn’t. And opposed to filming in a bar or restaurant, we chose the elements of The North Shore where Rachel (Dormont) has made her biggest mark on Instagram championing what I’ve dubbed #therachelbianchimethod. This is a 1.7 mile walk that she takes from Duquesne to her place of work as an accountant in Allegheny Center. Along the walk, she will routinely capture the coolest shots of the North Shore that you will find, covering things like the bridges, skyline, PNC Park, etc. This is how I discovered Rachel, and is also the best example I have for why you should follow her, other than the fact that she’s a really cool young lady as you’ll see in the embedded videos. She got a nice fancy new camera and her pictures continue to improve; they were amazing this winter with the frozen ice, and I’m sure they’ll have a whole new flair as activity picks up on the water this summer. I’ve always liked interacting with her on Instagram, and since on emails, because she’s so cheery and fun to be around. Check her out for yourself!
