I discovered the bamcrown account, which over time appears to batch pictures irregularly here and there, when he took a bunch of badass pictures at/near a Bucco game and on the sisters bridges last summer, one of which included a reflection of the city in his sunglasses featuring some pretty significant dreads. It was just super cool, and I became an instant fan of his pictures. If you follow Cam, he doesn’t post that often because he’s got a bunch going on finishing up school at Carlow, but every now and then he’ll find something cool to post and reward you for your patience. I learned at 21st Street Coffee that he’s an extremely caring dude, having left school to take care of his mom while she defeated breast cancer, and talking with adoration about his girlfriend and her (now complete I presume) move to Allegheny Center. He’s the kind of person that you can just tell is very genuine from the time you meet him, and I enjoyed talking to him about divergent topics like the fact that everyone we know is getting married and having kids or the time he met an artist we both like.
Cam and I share a lot of musical interests and enjoy live shows, but he has me completely defeated in his affection for coffee, which is another major trend in his Instagram account. This was also a selling point for me in deciding to feature Cam, because you see coffee and café pictures all the time, and he does a nice job of skipping around from Carnegie Coffee Company to 21st Street Coffee to Café Amano and so on and so forth. I didn’t realize just how much of a drive this was for him until we discussed his interests in opening up a coffee shop in the future and he taught me a thing or two about different coffee types and brews – further evidence to me that I never know exactly what I’m going to learn about or discover whenever I meet all the different, interesting people who use Instagram to share their lives. I really enjoyed hanging out with Cam, and look forward to running into one another at a show or a coffeehouse again sometime.
