It’s an Altar Bar night in Pittsburgh. As we like to do with Indiecent Exposure, we’ll skip the formalities of “OMG this is exciting” and “I hope they play this song” and help you out with something about the artist that you can:
Kishi Bashi is the stage name of violin-first multi-instrumentalist Kaoru Ishibashi. I know I missed The XX review yesterday (though I posted on Twitter) and for that I’m sorry, but you all should’ve had that one pretty well covered. I’m writing this post from Atlanta this morning (was at Music Midtown last night) because I want to make sure people check him out. KB is different than most acts you’ll see – unconventional, talented, eclectic and experimental. People seem to love him in concert and his albums get great reviews. I didn’t think I’d see him before, but just learned that he is a touring member with Of Montreal and now I realize that I’ve definitely, absolutely seen him and that he played “America the Beautiful” on his violin to close out their show at Theatre of the Living Arts in Philly three or four years ago.
